"poem" dedicated to my family
*end lyrics* inspired by Dusty Pas'cal original song "Hunters and Thieves"

Honeysuckle lovers dance in between weeds
cucumber summers, strawberry breeze -
Salamander Creek runs through our frontyard
tha days here are colder, tha work here is
harder - than -

a whole lotta livin'
without any lovin'
a whole lotta givin'
without any take
Tha boys here are tough
but not as tough as their women
we do our share of sinnin'
but we don't share nothin' fake

There's a little country store
that ain't been used in years
Tha town wants to burn it down
but drowns their fire with their tears
Nobody wants to lose tha past
no one wants to face their fears
I cannot blame a soul, Lord
only knows why we are here
Is it - to -

earn a little livin'
borrow what they offer
buy a house-shaped buildin'
leave children at our wake?
I could never love another
I'd only love her for tha woman
whose heart I ask forgiveness
for whom my weak heart breaks

Honeysuckle straws sip strawberry breeze
cucumber summers - we grow up like weeds
